The Lead Elder provides strategic leadership and administrative oversight for the church, helping ensure that Sharon Church remains aligned with its mission and calling under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. This role provides coordination and direction for the staff, stewardship of the church’s resources, and oversight of day-to-day operations.

The Lead Elder also serves the elder team by helping bring clarity, unity, and accountability to the church’s leadership and ensuring that decisions, ministries, and resources are working together toward the church’s mission. 

The Elder of Teaching and Discipleship provides leadership in the spiritual formation of the church through faithful biblical teaching and intentional discipleship. This elder is primarily responsible for leading and overseeing the majority of the teaching ministry on Sunday mornings and Wednesday night Bible studies, ensuring that all teaching is grounded in Scripture, centered on Christ, and aligned with the church’s doctrine and mission.

This elder also helps cultivate a culture of discipleship by encouraging spiritual growth, equipping believers to study and apply God’s Word, and developing opportunities for biblical learning and maturity throughout the church body.

The Elder of Pastoral Care provides spiritual leadership and oversight in helping ensure that the people of Sharon Church are shepherded, encouraged, supported, and cared for through every season of life. This role reflects the biblical calling to care for the church as a family, helping people experience the love of Christ through meaningful relationships, prayer, presence, and practical support.

The Elder of Pastoral Care helps develop and encourage a culture where people are known, valued, prayed for, and cared for—not only during times of crisis, but throughout their journey of faith. This includes providing leadership and support through biblical relationships, prayer, hospital and home visitation, counseling, encouragement, and practical care during times of need, grief, illness, transition, or hardship.

The Elder of Leadership and Volunteer Oversight provides important oversight to ensure that those serving in leadership positions have been appropriately vetted, approved, and equipped to serve within Sharon Church. This person helps ensure that leaders understand and support the church’s mission, values, biblical foundation, and ministry expectations, and that each leadership role functions in alignment with the overall direction of the church.

This role also provides oversight of the church’s volunteer screening and training processes, ensuring that all volunteers who serve in appropriate areas have completed the required background checks and receive the training necessary for their ministry responsibilities. Through ongoing training, communication, and accountability, this person helps create a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment where people can serve effectively and where children, students, families, and the entire church family are protected and cared for.

The Elder of Groups provides leadership, oversight, and encouragement for the church’s small group and discipleship ministries. This elder works to cultivate healthy biblical community by coordinating and supporting small groups, home groups, and discipleship groups throughout the church. The goal of this ministry is to help people grow in Christ through intentional relationships, sound biblical study, prayer, fellowship, and disciple-making within the life of the church.

The Elder of Local Missions provides leadership and helps cultivate local mission opportunities that make a meaningful impact in our schools and throughout our community. These efforts include our Backpack Buddies Ministry, which provides weekend food for children who might otherwise go without; our local food bank; sports ministry; and our recovery ministry.

Brad and his wife, Monica, lead our OneWay Recovery Ministry, which seeks to help people break free from life-controlling strongholds through the hope, healing, and transforming power of Jesus Christ.

The Elder of Assimilation provides leadership, vision, and oversight for helping guests and new members move from simply attending Sharon Church to becoming meaningfully connected to the life and mission of the church. This role is essential in creating a clear and welcoming pathway for people to develop relationships, discover their place within the church family, grow in their faith, and become actively involved in serving others.

Gary leads Sharon 101, our new member class and primary pathway for those who desire to learn more about Sharon Church and take the next step toward joining the family. Through Sharon 101, individuals have the opportunity to understand who we are, what we believe, our mission and values, and what it means to become an active part of the Sharon Church family.

The Elder of International Missions provides leadership, vision, and direction for Sharon Church’s global missions efforts, helping cultivate a church culture that understands and embraces the call to take the Gospel to the nations. This elder works to keep international missions before the church body and helps the congregation see how God is working around the world and how Sharon Church can participate in that work.
